How to balance the relationship between employees, consumers and owners?

Zebra Technologies analyzed the attitudes and expectations of consumers,employees and owners in 2018, According to the report, 49% of global retail employees feel overworked, 51% of consumers think their communication with smart devices are better than communication with employees. And less than 15% of consumers fully trust the retailers gonna protect their personal data.


How to find the balance for the owners in the retail industry? We have the following recommendations.
1: Self-service information station
Retail employees have to answer the same question so many times from different consumers. Simple, mechanical repetition works make them feel tired and stressful. Meanwhile consumers just get vague or even incorrect information, which is why 51% of consumers rely more on smart devices. Some consumers even refuse to communicate because they think it will leak their privacy information.
 
The communication with the consumers determines how long they gonna stay, how many products or foods they will order,and it even decides how they feel about the shopping. Set up a self-service information station with iPad would be a good helper here. The consumers will buy more when they see the vivid photos with details on the iPad. At the same time employees get more time to focus on their works.

 
2: More efficiency with a iPad-based POS system
According to the survey, 28% of retail employees said the demands of consumers are difficult to notice. Decision makers should do something for this desperate situation, like introducing a table POS system.
With a tablet, employees can quickly access information such as inventory, social media comments, or product listings that can help shoppers.That will bring more valuable conversations with their customers.
Moreover, iPad-based POS systems make payments faster and more flexible, reducing the possibility that consumers give up their purchases. Compared to traditional POS systems, it costs less.
Many retail decision makers are keenly aware of the potential of tablet-based POS systems. According to the Zebra survey, nearly 60% of retailers plan to spend more than 6% on the tablets, and 21% plan to spend more than 10% on tablets in the next three years.
 
3: Use a self-checkout kiosk
Kiosk already became a hit in the retail industry. The benefits of a self-checkout machine are obvious, not just reducing manpower and employees workload, but work smarter and more efficiency. Zebra shows that nearly 80% of retail decision makers agree that the needs of manual checkout is declining . In addition, more than half of retail decision makers (52%) are converting point-of-sale (POS) space to self-checkout kiosk.
